Stepping Into Liminal Space: A December Transmission
I’m writing this in the run-up to Christmas — a time when I think most people would agree that life is anything but simple.
There are New Year’s resolutions on the horizon.
Last-minute gifts to buy.
If you have children, remembering who needs to be where, and when.
And then there’s the utter minefield of navigating family gatherings.
If you’re reading this, I invite you to step out of all the madness — just for a minute — with me.
Into the dark.
Into the quiet.
At this time of year, stepping out can feel more intense. I regularly take myself away from daily life, and often that means being alone from people — but not alone at all. I’m in the company of the plant spirits.
Many of the plants here have died back for the winter. I still sense them, but it’s quieter now, more distant. Summer feels like a time when they come out to meet you. Winter feels like the time when, if you want to continue the relationship, you have to go and meet them.
And so, we step into The Other — whatever that means for you.
For those of us who are used to passing in and out, right now can feel like being half in, half out. Part of me is trying to be human here, and part of me is hanging out in the other — the darkness, the infinite nothing-yet field of quantum possibilities.
Paradoxes abound in December.
Don’t be afraid of sitting in the dark. The mind is uncomfortable there, but the deeper knowing understands it’s needed. This is how we come home to ourselves. How we call back missing parts. How we unlock the knowing in our bones — knowledge placed there through generations.
What if stepping out of it all — stopping the doing — did more for you than all the action steps and goal-setting ever could?
What if anything was possible for you, right now?
In our human minds and worlds, we like to make things complicated. But this work is never about adding more. It’s about peeling away the layers we’ve accumulated since we got here, finding our true identity, our authentic energy — and then allowing ourselves to expand from that place.
Where are you in this process?
If you need support in the liminal space, Wild Rose Path exists for you. Visit the Begin Your Path page for gentle guidance on first steps, and let’s gather in the New Year in a simple, deeply intentional space — to explore ritual, reflection, and commitment to stepping into the field.
