Finding Yourself in the Shadows: A Path to Self-Sovereignty
Lately, so many of us are feeling overloaded — not just with the holiday rush, but with the constant stream of social media, news, doom-laden prophecies, and the quiet comparisons to people whose lives seem shinier or smoother than ours.
We’re all in this. Each of us has old parts of our life and identity sloughed off, sometimes with grace, sometimes painfully. Yet we rarely acknowledge this as normal. Instead, society teaches us: if something is falling away, there must be something wrong with us.
It’s bollocks. Many of us have woken up to that. And we’re craving the antidote — medicine for this culture.
Looking for Healing — But Missing the Depth
The first step is often seeking healing. But surface-level practices — self-care appointments, gratitude journals, or love-and-light rituals — can only take us so far.
Something deep inside us knows this isn’t enough. That bone-deep need for healing is calling for more.
From what I’ve learned in energetic alignment, if we desire change from the frequency we’re currently living in, we can only receive what matches that frequency.
If we feel “not enough” at our core, we look outside ourselves for healing. Reiki, yoga, workshops — these may shift something temporarily. But without addressing our core beliefs, life returns to the same frequency. Same results. Same patterns.
The Liminal Space and the Underworld
This default state continues until something cracks us open: a life transition, an ending, a death, illness, or a polycrisis. These moments catalyze awareness and question everything we thought we knew.
Many of us are in this space right now — the liminal space, the underworld. No longer clinging to what’s gone, but not yet stepping into what’s coming.
It’s in this shadowy place that we meet our true selves — our sovereign selves. Our powerful selves.
Being, Not Doing
The logical mind asks: How? What do I do to find this version of myself?
But this is a time for being, not doing. It’s not our logical brains navigating this — it’s our bodies remembering. There’s a deep, instinctive knowing awakening within us.
Perhaps you’ve noticed it too:
- A return to the land
- Plant medicine practiced as connection, not just supplements
- Ritual as healing
- Sacred spaces where we are held and witnessed
- Stories and myths that carry wisdom
These practices are encoded in our DNA, ancestral technologies quietly resurfacing when we need them most.
The Instinctive Knowing
Looking out my window, I see the hill where the Howgill fells meet. The sheep here are hefted:
“Animals learn to stay within a specific area — a ‘heft’ — through generations, with knowledge passed from ewe to lamb. Over time, they instinctively know where to find grazing and shelter throughout the year.”
This instinctive knowing mirrors what is waking up in us now.
Walking the Path of Self-Sovereignty
All of this quietly informs Wild Rose Path — a journey from self-abandonment to self-sovereignty. A container for transformation.
As the path unfolds, I am learning to embody its next version — and the frequency required to hold this space — so that others can journey with support, guidance, and safety.
We are walking this threshold together. And the remembering has already begun.
